Viagra tablet 100mg is used in men with erectile dysfunction i.e. inability to erect the penis during sexual affairs. It is also used in the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension both in men and women. This tablet also helps to improve exercise capability in adults. However, the uses mentioned here are not exhaustive. There may be other conditions for which this medication may be used upon doctor’s discretion.

Composition

The active ingredient of Viagra Tablet 100mg is Sildenafil 100mg.

Mechanism of Action of Sildenafil

Sildenafil works by increasing blood flow to the penis thus helping it become erect and hard. This drug also relaxes blood vessels in pulmonary hypertension.

Contraindications and Caution

Patients with the following conditions are suggested to seek advice from their health care professional before taking Viagra tablet 100mg:

• Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients used in the Viagra tablet 100mg such as Sildenafil
• Pulmonary venous-occlusive disease

• HTN
• Moderate to severe BP
• Hypovolemia
• Aortic stenosis
• IHSS
• Autonomic dysfunction
• MI within 6 months
• Stroke within 6 months
• Life-threatening arrhythmias within 6 months
• Coronary revascularization within 6months
• CAD
• Diabetes mellitus
• Hyperlipidemia
• Hereditary degenerative retinal disorders
• Penile deformities
• Conditions predisposing to priapism
• Sickle cell disease
• Bleeding risk

Side and Adverse Effects

The following side effects may or may not occur during the usage of Viagra Tablet 100mg. It is generally well tolerated when taken in the prescribed dosage guidelines. More common ones are generally mild and may include:

How to Use

Do not exceed the dose prescribed by your doctor.
Swallow Viagra tablet 100mg immediately after opening the tablet from the strip.
Avoid missing or forgetting a dose. If you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if it is almost time for your next dose, skip it and take it according to your normal schedule. Don’t consume two doses at the same time which is dangerous to your health.
Viagra tablet 100mg may be taken with or without food.
Adults: for Erectile dysfunction take the tablet 1 hour before sexual intercourse.

Warnings and Precautions

Take the Viagra Tablet 100mg only on the advice of a medical practitioner. Dosage adjustment or complete avoidance of the medication may be required in the following conditions:

Liver:

Caution advised among people with hepatic problems. If you have any, consult your doctor before the consumption of this medicine.

Pregnancy:

Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to get pregnant because no studies available that this drug may affect an unborn or not. However, consider taking the medication if suggested by a doctor.

Lactation:

This medication may not be safe during breastfeeding. However, inform your doctor and weigh the benefits and risks.

Alcohol:

Alcohol along with this medicine may increase side effects.

Food:

Avoid grapefruit juice because this juice may interact with sildenafil and cause unwanted side effects.

Drug Interactions:

Exercise caution when using with other medicines especially drugs to treat high blood pressure, anti-fungal medicines, and other medicines to treat HIV/AIDS. Do not take medicines which are equivalent to Viagra tablet such as Avanafil, Tadalafil, Vardenafil, etc.
